Self-Publishing School Review 2018: Write Your 1st Book

How to write, publish and launch a bestselling book in as little as 90 days. A review of Chandler Bolt's, Self-Publishing School. #writeabook #indieauthor #selfpublishingschool Hey There!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my review of Self-Publishing School (SPS).

If you have been reading Personal Finance Junkie for a while then you know that I self-published my first book, Financial Fitness using the lessons I learned from Self-Publishing School.

Since then, I have gotten tons of questions from friends and others wondering how to write a book and how to get it published on platforms such as Amazon.

Without fail, I always mention my experience and lessons learned at SPS.

If you have been thinking about giving SPS a try, DON’T…until you read this full review by a former student.

Now, let’s get to the review…

Self-Publishing School Review – All You Need To Know

Name: Self-Publishing School

Creator: Chandler Bolt

Purpose: Write, publish, and launch a bestselling book in as little as 90 days

In this review, you will learn:

  • What to expect from Self-Publishing School
  • Pros and cons of SPS
  • Is the course a good fit for you
  • How much Self-Publishing School costs
  • My personal experience in SPS

What Will You Learn In Self-Publishing School?

Self-Publishing School promises to take its students from “blank page to published author” in as little as 90 days. The content of the course is broken down into six easy to digest “phases”.

When you first enter the student’s portal you will be greeted by the course creator, Chandler Bolt with a friendly welcome video.

From there, the course is broken down as follows:

Getting Started + Orientation Checklist

If you have ever taken a course, started and then stopped before even getting halfway through, then the orientation checklist was designed with YOU in mind.

In this section you will find nine different tasks all designed to hold you accountable which virtually GUARANTEES you successfully complete the course and publish your book.

Some of the highlights in this section includes an introduction to the SPS Mastermind Community and directions to find your accountability partner.

You will find several other cool, built-in accountability pieces in this section.

Phase 1: Positioning & Outlining

How many times have you tried to write your book only to write a few words or none at all?

Phase 1 addresses why this happens and it will help you to gain clarity regarding your PURPOSE for writing a book.

Even if you don’t know exactly what you want to write about yet, Phase 1 will help you get clear.

Phase 1 is where I learned how to do a mind map and outline for my book. It sounds simple but I have to tell you, once I completed those two tasks writing my book was a breeze!

Phase 2: Rapid Writing

Speed is the key to finally getting your book done.

Phase 2 will teach you how to write a good book…FAST.

Ever wonder why RIPPING the band-aid off is so effective? It all has to do with speed. You can do anything in a short amount of time once you gain some serious focus and momentum.

Self-Publishing School teaches you how to get your first draft done quickly. It also teaches you want to do to improve your book after your first draft is done.

It has multiple lessons on techniques to make your book better such as how to write a good introduction and how to beef up your book if it is not long enough.

Phase 3: Editing Made Easy

I know, based on the title you are probably thinking this phase is going to suck.

This was actually one of my FAVORITE phases!

This phase is not exactly about editing your book yourself (which I do advise for the first and second edits). In this phase, Chandler teachers how to HIRE an editor that can drastically improve the quality of your book.

There are also some other seriously FUN “tasks” in this phase that you will love to do while you wait on your manuscript to come back from editing.

Phase 4: Book Launch Blueprint

If you are like me then you might not be able to bake a cake from scratch but when you get your hands on a RECIPE you will ROCK IT!!!

Phase 4 gives you the recipe for launching a best-selling book.  Period.

If you want your book to ever have a chance of getting discovered in search engines like Amazon then you need the lessons in Phase 4.

EVERYTHING you need to know to sell books is in this phase.

From designing a launch plan to getting book reviews to what to write in emails to your “launch team” is in this phase.

Phase 5: Pain Free Publishing

At this point in the course your book will be done.

Now what?

This is where Self-Publishing School really stands out in my opinion.

The course explains step-by-step what you need to do to set up a Kindle Direct Publishing account, Amazon Author page, how to properly format your book and so much more!

This phase even gets into my favorite topic…the MONEY. This phase teaches you all about what to expect as far as earning royalties.

There are over 15 tasks in this phase and each one will get you one step closer to becoming a best-selling author.

Phase 6: You’re Published…Now What?

In this phase, Chandler teaches you how to continue to drive sales to your book (hint, hint: MAKE MORE MONEY) long after it is published.

He addresses the number 1 reason why people don’t have long-term success with their books…they fail to market them.

Chandler also shows you how to create other money making opportunities from your newly published book.

A small fraction of the lessons in this phase include:

  • Maintaining books sales
  • Creating a simple book website
  • Driving sales using Podcasts and Blogs
  • Landing media coverage
  • Writing more books

This section of the course is the HUB where all bonus materials and tools are kept.

Some of the bonuses you will find in this section include a mind map tool, discount book cover designers and an introduction to the best writing software for authors – Scrivener.

There is also a blank, 3 month SPS calendar for you to download and use again and again.

Self-Publishing School Pros

1. Easy to follow, clear directions

Do you get bored easily?

I know I do and I have a REALLY hard time completing courses because of it.

But, guess what?

I was able to complete Self-Publishing School with NO PROBLEM!

Most of the SPS course is video based with lots of supporting PDF files to enhance learning.

While the videos aren’t by any means over the top or flashy, they are LOADED with useful information and TO-THE-POINT!

If you want to learn how to self-publish your next book in 90 days or less and you are looking for a course with no fluff or useless information that you can Google yourself then you must give Self-Publishing School a try.

2. Study at your own pace

At Self-Publishing School you can move through the materials as quickly or as slowly as you need to.

If you want to binge study and learn every lesson in 30 days instead of 90 days that is certainly an option. You get to determine how quickly you become a best-selling, published author.

If you choose to engage with the community and your accountability partner you still have the option to ask questions and get answers in real-time.

3. Accountability partner

There are a lot of unique features in SPS and one of them is accountability partnering.

A lot of courses creators are getting wise now and developing at least Facebook Communities for their students but SPS was one of the first courses that I experienced having a real partner to hold me accountable for the goals I set.

In many other courses I have taken I felt lonely and like it did not matter if I completed the course or not.

With Self-Publishing School it is not like that AT ALL.

There are many things in place to make sure you succeed and the accountability partnering is just one of such safety nets.

4. Community

You SPS classmates will become your internet friends.

Many partnerships are formed in Self-Publishing School and for good reason!

Imagine being in an environment completely filled with like-minded people who want to see you succeed just as badly as they want to succeed.

That is what the SPS community is like.

Once you enroll in Self-Publishing School you will get information about how to join the exclusive Facebook community.

5. Extra Resources

The cost-cutting tools found in the resources section alone is worth the price of the course.

The tools will not only help you create a better book they will ultimately help you to drive more sales and EARN MORE MONEY from your book.

Self-Publishing School Cons

1. Study at your own pace

Ok, so I know that I listed study at your own pace as a “pro” also.

But, honestly I had a VERY difficult time coming up with any cons for self-publishing school.

Then it occurred to me that study at your own pace, while perfect for me, may not work for everyone.

Are you the type of person who NEEDS a deadline?

If so, then completing a course where you study at your own pace might be difficult for you.

The good news however, is SPS does such an amazing job at built-in accountability systems that they make it almost impossible for you to fail.

If worse came to worse I suppose a person could also ask their accountability partner to give them a hard deadline.

✔ Who Should Take This Course

  • Do you have a burning desire to write AND publish a book?
  • Do you need motivation or accountability to accomplish your goal of writing a book?
  • Are you a good writer but need help with the packaging, publishing and sales process?
  • Are you an “ok” writer that can use some help putting a solid book together?
  • Do you want to start earning passive income from your book ASAP?

Then YOU should enroll in Self-Publishing School.

✘ Who Should NOT Take This Course

  • Do you hate passive income?
  • Have a hard time following simple directions?
  • Do you kind of want to write a book but not sure you have 30 minutes a day to spend on this goal?

Then you should get your life together FIRST then, enroll in Self-Publishing School.

How Much Does Self Publishing School Cost?

Self-Publishing School offers two course levels to choose from: PRO for $997 and MASTER priced at $1997.

Each level has the option for you to pay in installments.

So don’t let price deter you if you really want to learn how to write and publish books for profit.

Trust me, this course is worth the price because your return on investment is practically limitless if you follow the lessons.

What’s the difference between the “Pro” level and the “Master” level?

Image Description Cost
Self-Publishing School PRO
"Our flagship 90 day program that will take you from blank page to published author in 90 days, and show you how to use your book to grow a 6-figure income. To date, over 1,200 authors have enrolled."
Self-Publishing School MASTER
"Our MASTER program includes the world class training of PRO and adds additional training, our proprietary “review sweeper,” and our private rolodex of the services and outsourcers we’ve used for each of our book launches."

Money Back Guarantee

If you try the course and for some reason find that it is not for you, no worries…there is an escape clause.

Self-Publishing School offers a 45-day money back guarantee.

I truly do not think you will need to use that escape clause but it is there just in case you know, life happens.

My Experience With Self-Publishing School

I am writing my Self-Publishing School review two years after taking the course and I can tell you that I go back in to review lessons frequently.

Two years later and my book, Financial Fitness is still earning passive income for me month after month.

I am 100% sure that I NEVER would have published my book if I did not take the SPS course.

Between the lessons I learned in the course and from the community and my accountability partner I have developed a skill that can earn me money as long as I am willing to do the work.

Self-Publishing School delivered on all of its promises…I finished and published my book in less than 90 days and it quickly rose to #1 in all of its categories and was labeled a “BEST SELLER” on Amazon.

Check me out (I relaunched with a different cover but the content is the same):

how to write a book

I would pay five times the price of enrollment to Self-Publishing School for the earning potential it has given me.

Self-Publishing School Review Summary

All-in-all I would have to say that Self-Publishing School OVER delivers on its promises.

It is a great course for anyone who is serious about writing and publishing their first book.

With so many accountability pieces built in to the course, it is almost impossible not to succeed. In fact, my favorite thing about the course are the accountability partnering and the Facebook community.

While the enrollment cost is nothing to sneeze at, the return on investment makes it worth every penny (besides, installment plans are available so you don’t break your budget).

What more can I say?

If you are ready to start earning passive income with your very own, self-published book in as little as 90 days then SPS will get you there.
